About Us

Counseling Psychology Nepal (CPN) was formally registered in 2021 AD. Though the establishment date is recent, its background dates back to 2015 AD. CPN, as an organization, became the focus of the general population when the global pandemic of COVID-19 broke out. However, its existence as an idea of providing counseling services in Nepal had already started in 2015.

In 2015, psychosocial- counselors were gradually evolving, and their needs were not considered as significant as they are today. So, CPN was simply a concept that only existed on social media pages and groups. The group and page mostly posted counseling updates that were helping the counselors of Nepal.

By the time the COVID-19 lockdown was imposed in Nepal, the Master's program in counseling psychology- Tribhuvan University (TU) had already produced professional counseling psychologists. Having expertise and skills, counseling psychologists did not want to sit in the house and do nothing while the whole world was in despair, physically and mentally.

So, a group of counseling psychologists came together and planned to provide remote counseling using CPN. Unfortunately, CPN was not formally registered at that time, but this did not stop them from working. So, they collaborated with multiple organizations and provided free counseling services to Nepalese living in Nepal and abroad.

Approximately, CPN offered free counseling services, training, and digital live interaction to more than 100 individuals and groups. After the positive feedback from the clients and expertise, CPN members decided to establish this organization in 2021. And today, it has been working with formal agendas.
